Sketched on napkins,
fueled by tea.
Our story didn't begin in a glass boardroom. It started in a crowded Karaköy café where three friends—an artist from Ankara, a dev from Izmir, and a sound designer with a penchant for city field recordings—decided that mobile games deserved more soul.
"We don't build loops to keep you addicted; we build moments that make you smile during a five-minute commute."
— Selin Demir, Lead Game Designer
Sustainable Joy
The hyper-casual market is often a race to the bottom—fast development, aggressive monetization, and disposable mechanics. Brightbase was founded to provide an alternative. We call it "Warm Minimalism." It’s an approach where UI feels inviting rather than sterile, and every interaction serves the player’s agency.
Our Istanbul studio is more like a living room than a tech hub. We test our games in the ferries crossing the Bosphorus, watching how real people interact with our puzzles amidst the chaos of a daily commute. If a game can't deliver joy in that specific, real-world scenario, we go back to the drawing board.
Anatolian Roots
Turkey has become a global powerhouse in mobile gaming, and we are proud to be part of that tapestry. Our sound designer records the amber-clink of tea glasses and the distant hum of the city to weave into our soundscapes. It’s these tiny, tactile details that ground our digital experiences in something human and recognizable.

How we decide
what stays and what goes.
The 5-Min Rule
Does this provide a complete emotional arc in under five minutes? If the game requires a tutorial longer than 60 seconds, it's too complex.
Ethical Friction
We reject "dark patterns." We never hide the exit button or use fake countdowns. Retention must be earned through play, not trickery.
Tactile Fidelity
We prioritize visual "juice"—the way a button bounces or an icon glows. Even on low-end devices, the feedback must feel physical.
Evaluating Robustness
Our QA process isn't just about bugs; it's about "thermal comfort." We evaluate how apps stress mobile hardware. If an app causes an iPhone 13 to throttle within 20 minutes, we optimize the shader logic. We prefer stable 30fps with consistent frame-times over a stuttering 60fps.
The commute test.
Imagine a player on the M2 Metro line in Istanbul. No signal, high noise, and limited space. Most games fail here—they require constant cloud sync or two hands.
Architectural Trade-offs
-
Offline First vs. Social Integration
We prioritize locally-saved progress, sacrificing global leaderboards for 100% playability in dead zones.
-
Stylized Art vs. Realism
Hand-drawn 2D assets allow us to run on 5-year-old hardware without sacrificing the 'premium' boutique feel.
-
One-Handed UX vs. Depth
Menu systems are simplified to bottom-drawer layouts, increasing accessibility but requiring more creative UI nesting.
